Pressure Swing Adsorption
Pressure Swing Absorption
Often used in small-scale air separation units, Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) uses a solid catalyst bed to adsorb the contaminants from gas at high pressure, which then blows of the contaminant at low pressure.
This is an efficient method to separate certain gases from a mixture of gases. There are many applications to PSA such as:
- Removing carbon dioxide for the synthesis of hydrogen
- The production of ammonia
- Removing hydrogen sulfide from hydrogen feed and recycle streams
- Separating carbon dioxide from biogas to increase the methane ratio
