Job Summary

Melland Engineering is seeking an enthusiastic Engineer Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in the natural gas industry. This internship is perfect for a current student or recent graduate looking to apply their academic knowledge to real-world projects in process engineering and consulting. You’ll work closely with our experienced engineers on designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting natural gas systems, with opportunities to travel to West Texas (approximately 25% of the time) for field exposure. This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule, offering mentorship and a pathway to grow within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and simulation of natural gas processes, such as gas treatment, compression, and dehydration, under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support the development of P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and perform basic process calculations.
  • Participate in field visits to West Texas (approximately 25% travel) to observe operations, assist with data collection, and support commissioning activities.
  • Analyze operational data and contribute to reports identifying process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the team on technical documentation, proposals, and presentations for clients.
  • Learn and apply industry software tools (e.g., HYSYS, Aspen Plus) with training provided.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions to deepen understanding of natural gas engineering principles.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field (or recent graduate seeking experience).
  • Basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, or process engineering concepts (coursework or projects acceptable).
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude toward tackling new challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); exposure to engineering software is a plus but not required.
